We Come To You In Prayer

Dear Lord, we come to you in prayer, Knowing You are always there.

Joyfully, your songs we sing, Praising You in everything.

Keep us safe by night and day, As we travel on our way.

Teach us that its when we share, Others learn about your care.

Smile on us each time we give, For that's how you would have us live.

Remind us friends should have our love, For they are gifts from heaven above.

When we have special chores to do, May we bring glory just to you.

This is your world that we love so, We thank you, Lord, for things that grow.

With hearts as full as they can be, We thank you for our family.

Night Time Prayer

Time has come for me to sleep ,
And I thank Thee for Thy keep.
Watch this night well over me
Teach me Lord to trust in Thee.

Many sins I've done today
Please, Lord take them all away.
Look upon me in Thy grace
Make me pure before Thy face.

Care for children sick and poor,
Grant them Lord Thy blessing more
Care for Mom and Dad the same
This I pray in Jesus' Name.

The Our Father

Here is the prayer Jesus taught us. He said that God is His Father and our Father. So we pray with Jesus:

Our Father,

We cannot see God with our eyes. He is in heaven. But God hears us and wants us to come near. So we pray:

who art in heaven,

God's name is holy so we honor it. When we hear the name of God we should be happy because He made all things. God made us and loves us. So we pray:

hallowed be thy name.

God wishes to bring good things to our world. We can help by doing good things every day. So we pray:

Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.

God is like a kind father. We need food to be strong, clothes to be warm, and so many more things. So we pray:

Give us this day our daily bread

God forgives us when we do something wrong. But He also said we must forgive those who do something wrong to us. So we pray:

Forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who
trespass against us.

Wherever we go, God is there to take our hand and guide us, He is always at our side. Even in danger, God will help us to know what to do. So we pray:

Lead us not
into temptation
but deliver us from evil.

The Sign Of The Cross

We have some prayers that we say at certain times, like The Sign of the Cross. It is the first sign that is made on us at Baptism and the last sign when we die. We use it at the beginning and end of prayers and The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

We call the Sign of the Cross a blessing. It shows how God blesses us and it is something we do to show our belief in God. When we bless ourselves with the Sign of the Cross we remember God who blesses us: the Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We trace a cross on ourselves, the cross of Jesus, to remember the blessing of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Jesus died on the Cross because He loved us so very much. By making this holy sign on our forehead, heart and our shoulders, we remember that we are blessed in mind, heart and in everything. This prayer reminds us that each and every day that God is always with us, in the good times and bad.

This is how we make and pray The Sign Of The Cross

We open our right hand and touch our forehead and say:

"In the name of the Father"

By saying this we pray

Bless me God
bless me in every way
bless me everyday
bless what I say
bless what I do
bless what I think
bless what I see
bless what I hear

Then we touch our heart with our right hand and say

"and of the Son."

By saying this we pray

Bless me Jesus,
Bless my heart
Help me to love everyone.

Then we touch our shoulders left then right while saying:

"and of the Holy Spirit"

By saying this we pray

Bless me sweet Holy Spirit
Guide me
Protect me
Use me

Then we say

Psalm 23

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lay down in green pastures.

He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the path of righteousness for His names sake. Yea I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for He is with me.

His rod and His staff, they comfort me. He prepares a table for me in the presence of my enemies. He anoints my head with oil; my cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

Prayer To Our Guardian Angels

Angel of God,

my Guardian dear,

to whom His love

commits me here,

ever this day (or night)

be at my side,

to light and guard,

to rule and guide.

Prayer and The Bible

Prayer is a special time we spend with God. We tell God everything because He is our most trusted friend. We ask Him to forgive us when we have done wrong.
We ask Him to bless us, our parents, our family and friends and our teachers.

The bible is God's Holy Word.

We get to know Him by reading and listening to God's Holy Word.
